A Flavourful Heritage

Over a century ago, in the vibrant town of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Southern Thailand, Nat’s grandmother, Yai, captivated the community with her legendary Triple Chilli Sauce. This treasured family recipe, cherished for generations, became an integral part of Nat’s upbringing. As a young girl, Nat eagerly assisted her grandmother in concocting this culinary masterpiece, forging a deep bond and igniting her own passion for food.

In the mid-90s, Nat embarked on a journey that led her to Australia, where fate intertwined her life with Ben—a gifted chef renowned for his culinary mastery in some of Sydney’s most reputable restaurants, including his own. As their paths converged, a remarkable fusion emerged: Nat’s deep-rooted affection for traditional Thai cuisine, handed down through generations, merged seamlessly with Ben’s exceptional culinary skills. United by their shared love for exquisite flavours, they seized the opportunity to embark on a new culinary venture, giving birth to Banana Blossom.

In the vibrant year of 2003, nestled within the picturesque coastal town of Mona Vale, Sydney’s Northern Beaches witnessed the birth of a culinary sensation—the first-ever Banana Blossom salad. Bursting with captivating flavours, this innovative creation swiftly captured the hearts and palates of salad enthusiasts far and wide. Such was the overwhelming demand that it didn’t take long for Nat and Ben to expand their horizons, opening two additional stores in the neighbouring havens of Manly and Warringah, ensuring that the delectable delights of Banana Blossom could be savoured by an ever-growing clientele.

The Elixir

Chilli

Our famous Triple Chilli dressing recipe dates back centuries. Banana Blossom founder Nat’s great grandmother was serving up our famous Triple Chilli dressing more than 100 years ago in the village of Nakhon Si Thammarat in South Thailand.

The recipe was handed down through generations of family before Nat passed it on to her husband Ben, the genius chef behind our salad creations. Nat’s family has been serving the dressing at local markets, often frequented by monks who would stop for a meal on their travels.

The top secret recipe was passed down through generations and might be an elixir for long life! Nat’s great grandmother lived to the incredible age of 106! And her grandmother 101! How amazing is that?

We think it’s the hours and hours of careful preparation needed to craft the dressing that makes it so special. Both Nat and Ben were trained to make it (with lots of trial and error!), but they did the hard work so you don’t have to. All you have to do is order up and enjoy, lucky you!
