What do you love most about running a Banana Blossom franchise?
We love greeting both new and familiar faces who quickly become our loyal regulars. It’s amazing to provide Bondi locals and visitors with fresh, healthy salads and bowls. Creating a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, whether dining in or taking away, is so rewarding for us, our staff, and the community.
How has the Bondi Beach community reacted to your opening?
The community has really embraced us! Locals love the new bright and airy fit-out, and both newcomers and long-time Banana Blossom fans are thrilled we’re back, especially since we’re now open for dinner. The excitement has been contagious, and we’re well on our way to building an epic following here in Bondi.
How do you balance work and personal life as franchise owners?
It’s definitely a balancing act! With the store reopening, there have been lots of moving parts to manage — planning, logistics, and plenty of hard work. Tim left his corporate job to dive into Banana Blossom full-time, while Emma still works full-time in tech sales and helps out on weekends and with admin. We make it a priority to start our mornings with a walk and coffee with our dog, before jumping into our busy day.
What makes Banana Blossom stand out from other spots in Bondi?
There are so many things! For starters, we’re dog-friendly, and our sauces are irresistible, catering to every palate. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or flexitarian, we’ve got something for everyone. Plus, our Bondi location perfectly complements the local lifestyle — come try it for yourself!
What’s your vision for Banana Blossom Bondi Beach?
We want to be the go-to spot for summer lunches, arvo hangs, and dinner, serving up the best salads and rice bowls. Growing our loyal customer base is key, and we’re excited to partner with local gyms, businesses, surf clubs, and sporting events in Bondi. We also want to host monthly summer events with food, music, and good vibes to bring the community together.
What did you do before joining Banana Blossom?
Tim worked as a property valuer with a background in construction, based in Barangaroo. Emma is still working full-time in FinTech as a Senior Consultant.
What made you decide to become franchisees with Banana Blossom?
Tim’s love for food and cooking, paired with his entrepreneurial spirit, made it the perfect opportunity to dive into the franchise world. For Emma, during Covid, she would religiously order Banana Blossom salads every Monday and Friday while working from home, which sparked a deep love for the brand. Fast forward to 2024, and here we are!
What’s your favourite Banana Blossom meal?
Hands down, the Tokyo Classic with chicken and a spicy shallot mix. It’s a simple dish, but the sauce is truly the best ever!
Lastly, what’s a fun fact people might not know about you two?
Tim is a true Bondi local, born and raised here, and has always dreamed of owning a business in the area. Emma grew up in Shellharbour by the sea, watching her parents run their own business, which inspired her to follow a similar path.
